Uchchamunai Island Housing Project
Uchchamunai Island is situated off Kalpitiya and is the largest Island with 176 families residing. Needless to mention that the basic needs of human beings are not found in the Island, inclusive of water, electricity, sanitation and shelter for the residents. These families purely depend on fishing for their living and they are in a greater struggle.
Out of these families, Oslo Boys Foundation came across of a deserving family in which the breadwinner is Mr. W. S. Sudarshan who is married to Mrs. M. Dilakshani Dias. They are parents of 2 children in the ages of 6 years and 4 years. Mr Sudarshan is a fisherman who earns on a daily basis. They lived in a little hut made with coconut branches.
The Oslo Boys Foundation donated LKR.3,000,000/- and built a house for this poor family, offering them a better life. This act could be like a drop in the ocean. But each drop of kindness is what makes an ocean of difference in the society.
